Dave Chappelle says that before Oscars slap, Will Smith 'did an impression of a perfect man for 30 years'

CNN  —

On stage in Liverpool on Thursday night, Dave Chappelle delivered a stinging assessment of the Oscars slap heard ‘round the world.

Chappelle is in the midst of a joint comedy tour with Chris Rock, who in March was slapped while presenting on stage at the Academy Awards by actor Will Smith.

“A lot of people forget who Will Smith is,” Chappelle said on stage at Liverpool’s M&S Bank Arena, according to British news outlet, The Telegraph. “Then 10 minutes before he was about to get the biggest award… he acted like he was back in Philadelphia.”

Smith won a best actor award for his role as Richard Williams, the father of Venus and Serena Williams, in the film “King Richard.” But his win was overshadowed by his conduct that night, which was condemned by the Academy and earned Smith a 10-year ban from Academy events.

'Saturday Night Live' takes on Will Smith's Oscars slap

“Will did the impression of a perfect person for 30 years, and he ripped his mask off and showed us he was as ugly as the rest of us,” Chappelle said. “Whatever the consequences are… I hope he doesn’t put his mask back on again, and lets his real face breathe….I see myself in both men.”

A representative for Chappelle confirmed The Telegraph’s reporting. CNN has reached out to representatives for Rock and Smith for comment.

Chappelle made the comments during the first of three shows as part of their UK tour. They have two consecutive dates scheduled this weekend at London’s O2 arena, with additional dates scheduled throughout Europe.

Rock reportedly also addressed the slap, joking that Smith “hit me over a bullsh-t joke, the nicest joke I ever told,” according to The Telegraph and The Times of London.

In July, Smith opened up about the incident in a video posted to Instagram, saying he was “deeply remorseful.”

Dolly Parton launches 'Doggy Parton' pet apparel line

The superstar singer, actress and author has announced the launch of "Doggy Parton" -- a line of dog apparel and accessories produced in partnership with SportPet Designs.

The line will feature shirts, dresses, squeaky toys and even a blonde wig inspired by Parton. A portion of the proceeds will go to Willa B. Farms, a rescue organization that provides a home for displaced animals.

"'Puppy Love'' was my very first record and 6 decades later, my love for pets is stronger than ever. This inspired me to start my own line of Doggy Parton apparel, accessories, toys and more with a little 'Dolly' flair," Parton said in a statement. "Part of the proceeds will support Willa B Farms, a rescue where animals in need find never-ending love. Don't we all need that?'"

Initially the products will be available via DoggyParton.com and Amazon with more retailers to be announced in the future.

Richard Roat, actor who appeared in 'Friends' and 'Seinfeld,' dead at 89

Roat was well known for his regular role on the daytime soap opera "The Doctors," playing Dr. Jerry Chandler. After that project, he went on to consistent work as a character actor, with a body of credits that spanned five decades of television, from "Hawaii Five-O" and "Columbo" in the 70s to "Cold Case" and "24" in the mid-aughts. He also appeared in episodes of beloved sitcoms like "Friends" (as Ross's colleague in "The One Where Ross Dates a Student") and "Seinfeld" (as a doctor in "The Package"). According to his obituary, Roat had "over 135 acting roles on television, film, and on Broadway." He also had "a successful practice as an entertainment tax preparer for over 50 years," the memorial said. Roat is survived by his wife of more than 40 years, Kathy.

Meghan Markle and Mariah Carey talk biracial identity in 'Archetypes' podcast

The two women discussed their biracial identities. Carey opened up to Meghan about moving often as a young girl and feeling caught between the Black and White sides of town. "I didn't fit in anywhere at all," Carey said. Meghan referenced an interview she had read in which actress Halle Berry had noted that because she was darker in color, she was treated as a Black woman, not as a biracial woman.

"And I think for us, it's very different because we're light-skinned," Meghan said. "You're not treated as a Black woman. You're not treated as a White woman. You sort of fit in between." Meghan told Carey that she only really began being treated like a Black woman when she started dating Prince Harry.

"I always thought it should be OK to say I'm mixed," Carey said. "Like it should be OK to say that. But people want you to choose."

Meghan's chat with Carey is the second episode of her Spotify podcast, which debuted last week with an interview with Serena Williams. Next week's episode will feature comedian and showrunner Mindy Kaling.
Meghan says she didn't realize ambition was considered bad until she started dating Harry
Following its debut, "Archetypes" jumped to the No.1 spot on Spotify's podcast charts, beating out "The Joe Rogan Experience." Its release comes two years after Spotify announced an exclusive deal with Archewell Audio, an audio-first production company founded by Prince Harry and Meghan. Back in 2020, the two released a holiday podcast on Spotify, their first podcast under the deal.

Analysis: 'Mike' punches up the story of Mike Tyson

And if you don't have children, have you checked off all of your summer travel plans? Or perhaps you didn't go anywhere further than your local green market. That's perfectly fine because home is where the heart is -- so let's love on some new content.

The titular subject of this new Hulu show is Mike Tyson, though the streamer says the limited series also "examines class in America, race in America, fame and the power of media, misogyny, the wealth divide, the promise of the American Dream and ultimately our own role in shaping Mike's story."
"Mike" chronicles Tyson's rise from a teen who committed petty crimes to boxing champion, as well as his past legal controversies -- in 1992, Tyson was found guilty of rape, and was sentenced to six years in prison (though he served less than three). And in case you had not heard, Tyson is not at all happy about the project.
The first two episodes of "Mike" are streaming now. 'Selling the OC'

The cast of "Selling the OC" is shown in a scene from the Netflix reality show.
My love of house porn is well documented.

So imagine my glee when Netflix announced a spin-off of the popular real estate series "Selling Sunset." This reality series still follows the Oppenheim Group -- headed by twin brothers Jason and Brett Oppenheim -- but focuses on the firm's second office in Newport Beach in California's Orange County, which means new realtors, new drama and new multimillion homes to lust over. It's streaming now. 'House of Ho' Season 2

(From left) Judy Ho and Vanessa Kon are shown in a scene from "House of Ho" on HBO Max.

And it's not just their mega-mansions. I feel zero shame when it comes to my obsession with the wealthy. Enter a new season of "House of Ho," which centers around a Vietnamese American family -- led by patriarch Binh Ho and his wife, Hue Ho, immigrants who built a multimillion dollar real estate and banking empire in Houston. Season two introduces some new cast members from the broader family tree, including more cousins, some future in-laws -- and some of their families, too. That means there's plenty of opportunities for more conflict and snark alongside the luxury we have come to love. The first three episodes are streaming on HBO Max (which is owned by CNN's parent company, Warner Bros. Discovery).

Two things to listen to

'God Did' by DJ Khaled

DJ Khaled performs at an event during Miami Swim Week on July 16 in Miami Beach, Florida.

And another one. DJ Khaled is releasing his 13th studio album, "God Did," and the uber-producer sounds more excited about the new project than his listeners.

Understandably so, since earlier this month he shared on Instagram that Jay-Z will be one of the featured artists.

"HOV DID!!! HOV VOCALS IS IN! WOW," reads the caption for a series of photos, which included his shocked reaction to the cameo. The pair teamed up before, along with rapper Future, for the 2016 single "I Got the Keys." "God Did" is out now. 'Will of the People' by Muse

(From left) Matt Bellamy and Chris Wolstenholme of Muse perform during the Eurockéennes music festival in eastern France, on July 3.

Muse is not only releasing a new album, but getting into the non-fungible token game: "Will of the People," the band's ninth studio album, is also available as an NFT edition.

That combination of rock music and technology should apparently not come as a surprise. "The band have always been at the forefront of technological innovation in their creativity and artistry," Sebastian Simone, vice president of audience and strategy at Warner Records in the UK, told The Guardian.

"Will of the People" is also out now.

One thing to talk about

(From left) Wells Adams and Sarah Hyland attend the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas on September 21, 2018.

Is August now the new June when it comes to celebrity weddings?

There were plenty of notable folks' nuptials this month -- singer James Bay and music promoter Lucy Smith, former Facebook executive Sheryl Sandberg and Tom Bernthal, and actors Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck, who legally wed in Las Vegas in July but held a big ceremony this month at his estate in Riceboro, Georgia.
But the one wedding that warmed my heart the most was that of "Modern Family" star Sarah Hyland and "Bachelorette" alum Wells Adams.

I could tick off a list of reasons why I find this couple adorable, including that they first connected via social media (as did my husband and I -- though our meet was on the granddaddy of social media, AOL Instant Messenger). But ultimately, I think I'm just really happy to see anyone who survives Bachelor Nation and finds true love.

Something to sip on

Snoop Dogg attends the WrestleMania 39 launch party at SoFi Stadium on August 11 in Inglewood, California.

Snoop Dogg is an example to hip-hop artists everywhere. I've often wondered if rappers ever "age" out of the game, given that some of our favorites, like Snoop, are now in their 50s.

But clearly that's not a worry as he's still out here making music -- in addition to his own discography, he's long been all over the K-pop scene, having collaborated with BTS members, Psy and Girls Generation, among others. And he's also making moves.
This month alone, I have reported on a new cereal called "Snoop Loopz" from his company Broadus Foods and the debut of his children's series "Doggyland - Kids Songs & Nursery Rhymes." The Doggfather was co-creator of this animated series and laid down vocals for the main character.

Way to expand your empire, Snoop!

Gary Busey responds to sex offense charges: 'I was not inappropriate at all'

The affidavit, obtained by CNN, states that Cherry Hill police detectives were called to a Doubletree Hotel on August 13 where two victims "reported being sexually assaulted by the same actor," identified as the defendant. "They reported they were in a photoshoot area during the Monster Mania event and were having their picture taken with the defendant. During the photoshoot, the defendant placed his face near one of the victim's breasts and asked her where she got them, before attempting to unlatch her bra strap," the affidavit states. The other woman reported that Busey, 78, grabbed her buttocks during the photo shoot, the affidavit states. The next day, a man reported that his daughter had been sexually assaulted by the actor, and that she told detectives he grabbed her buttocks during a photoshoot, according to the affidavit. Earlier Tuesday, Busey had no comment when CNN reached out and declined to say whether he had legal representation in the matter.

CNN contacted Busey again Tuesday night for comment on the affidavit's allegations.

Busey denied allegations of sexual misconduct to TMZ when the outlet caught up with the actor at a Malibu gas station on Monday, TMZ reported.

He said he was "not inappropriate at all," and that he has eyewitnesses. "None of that happened," Busey said. "Nothing happened. Nothing. It was all false." Detectives made contact with Busey and the affidavit states he "initially denied groping anyone, before asking detectives to apologize to the victims, then asking detectives to talk the victims out of pursuing complaints, as well as claiming that sometimes it is possible to accidentally touch someone in a specific body part," the affidavit states. A law firm representing Monster Mania told CNN in a statement Saturday that it was assisting authorities in their investigation, and that immediately after receiving a complaint from an attendee, "the celebrity guest was removed from the convention and instructed not to return."

Actor Gary Busey faces sex offense charges at Monster Mania Convention in New Jersey

A criminal complaint states Busey is to appear in Camden Superior Court at noon on August 31. Busey faces charges including two counts of criminal sexual contact (fourth degree), one count of criminal attempt/ criminal sexual contact (fourth degree), and one count of harassment (disorderly persons offense). CNN has contacted Cherry Hill police and Camden County prosecutors for comment.

Busey is best known for his portrayal of Buddy Holly in the 1978 movie "The Buddy Holly Story," for which he was nominated for an Oscar for best actor.

Scott Disick suffered minor injuries in a car crash over the weekend

Deputies said alcohol was not a factor in the crash and Disick was the only occupant in the car. "It was determined the primary cause of the traffic collision was speed and alcohol was not a factor. Mr. Disick suffered minor, non-life threatening injuries and declined medical treatment," the Sherrif's Department said in a statement to CNN. "He was picked up from the scene by family members and his vehicle was towed away per his request," they added. CNN has reached out to Disick's representative for comment.

The reality TV star and businessman shares three children with Kourtney Kardashian.

'House of the Dragon': All the nerdy things you need to know

As it is with any good high fantasy tale, your "House of the Dragon" experience will likely benefit from a little nerd homework. Here is everything you need to know before you watch so you can avoid common confusions like "Why are all of these blonde people so sad?" or "Wait, they're related?!" (HBO and CNN share parent company Warner Bros. Discovery.) "House of the Dragon" is a prequel series that focuses on the Targaryen dynasty; they of myth, madness, incest and purple shampoo. In the original "Game of Thrones" show and in the "Song of Ice And Fire" book series, the powerful House Targaryen has all but died off thanks to regicide and what seems to be a familial lack of impulse control from generations of inbreeding. Daenerys Targaryen is one of the few that remain in GoT-times, and even she gets prematurely sent off to the Shadow Lands by her nephew-lover, Jon Snow. (The Targaryen family tree is very narrow, yet complicated. The Targaryen Family Shillelagh, if you will.)

Anyway, HoD takes place 200 years before the events of "Game of Thrones," when the Targaryens are in full power and about to enter a very nasty, fiery war of succession known as the "Dance of Dragons." Keep in mind that, during the peak of their power, the Targaryens were a dragon-riding terror, hence their house motto: "Fire and Blood." Their scaled steeds brought the family from their original home of Valyria and helped them conquer all of Westeros. In the original GoT series, all of those dragons have been dead for a while. In HoD, they are (presumably) alive and well.

It's a Full House (Targaryen)

Paddy Considine as a very tired King Viserys Targaryen in "House of the Dragon."

Since this is right before the eventual downfall of House Targaryen, there are a lot of Targs at play. Too many Targs, one could argue. Some name tags would be nice.

  • King Viserys I is the current king of Westeros. He's actually a pretty cool guy. To give an idea of the time frame here, Viserys I is Daenerys' great-great-great-great-great-great-great grandfather. His kids and loved ones are the ones fighting to inherit power for when he eventually kicks it.
  • Princess Rhaenyra is Viserys' daughter by his first wife. Her father favors her as his successor, but there are several other contenders at play. It appears most of the action will center on her. Think of her as this series' Daenerys. She wants to rule, she has the qualifications, but a bunch of dudes keep getting in her way. Her dragon's name is Syrax.
  • Prince Aegon II is Viserys' first-born son and half-brother to Rhaenyra. He is another possible successor and a very big part of the war to come.
  • Prince Daemon is Viserys' brother and Rhaenyra's uncle. He's your typical Hamlet-y "always a prince, never a king" kind of figure. He is a bit of a rake and there's a lot of sexual tension between him and Rhaenyra which is, again, par for the course when it comes to this fam.
  • Alicent Hightower is Viserys' second wife and stepmother to Rhaenyra. She is Aegon II's mother and has designs to be Westeros' first queen regnant, so she doesn't get along with her stepdaughter. An evil stepmother? Groundbreaking. At this point, just assume everyone is corrupt and power-hungry. (Very big Margaery Tyrell vibes from her as well. RIP, queen.)
Milly Alcock as young Rhaenyra and Emily Carey as the young version of her best bud Alicent in "House of the Dragon."

There are many more Targaryens and Targaryen-adjacent people to keep track of, but let's pace ourselves. Another good thing to remember is that many people in Westeros believe the Targaryens have a genetic tendency towards insanity. (Ser Barristan Selmy put it best: "Every time a new Targaryen is born, the gods toss a coin in the air and the world holds its breath.) So even the good ones are, theoretically, one minor inconvenience away from mass murder.

A lot of Westeros will look familiar to you

The Iron Throne is definitely around, having been built by the first Targaryen king, Aegon. You'll recall many GoT characters spoke wonderingly about Aegon and his two sister-wives, Rhaenys and Visenya, who were the first generation of Targaryens to come to Westeros to (literally) set things off. They became the first ruling house of the Seven Kingdoms in Westeros. So at this point in the game, when HoD takes place, the current political system has only seen Targaryen rulers. The Red Keep was also Aegon's doing, so it's there too, as is the surrounding town of King's Landing. You'll recognize a few houses! The Hightowers have representation, of course. There are a few Baratheons scattered about. The Lannisters at this point in Westeros history are just minor, if very rich, players. We'll learn more about House Velaryon, another house of Valyrian descent that was occasionally mentioned in "Game of Thrones." However, don't expect to see any familiar faces from the original "Game of Thrones" series.

Steve Toussaint as Lord Corlys Velaryon, Eve Best as Princess Rhaenys Targaryen.

And lastly, you will spend half of your time keeping everyone's names straight

Are your wheels completely greased for a new era of "Game of Thrones?" Are you absolutely sure? Great! Here's a sampling of actual Targaryen names from the "Game of Thrones" universe.

  • Aegon
  • Aegor
  • Aemon
  • Aemond
  • Aenys
  • Rhaenys
  • Rhaena
  • Rhaella
  • Rhaegar
  • Rhaegel
  • Rhaelle
  • Jaehaera
  • Jaehaerys
  • Viserys
  • Daemon
  • Daeron
  • Baela
  • Baelor
  • Maelor

No wonder they all went mad. Luckily, only a small portion of these names will appear in "House of the Dragon," but it does make one long for the good old GoT days when the main character just went by "Jon."

Actor Gary Busey faces sex offense charges at Monster Mania Convention in New Jersey

Cherry Hill Police responded to the hotel for the report of a sex offense. As a result of the investigation, the police department charged Gary Busey, 78, of Malibu, California, with two counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual contact, one count of criminal attempt/criminal sexual contact and one count of harassment. CNN has reached out to representatives of Busey for comment. It was not immediately known if Busey had an attorney representing him in this matter. Cherry Hill Police Chief Robert Kempf confirmed to CNN on Saturday evening that the incident involved Busey, who was one of the attendees at the event. Busey is best known for his portrayal of Buddy Holly in the 1978 movie "The Buddy Holly Story," for which he was nominated for an Oscar for best actor.

A law firm representing Monster Mania told CNN in a statement on Saturday evening, "Our client, Monster-Mania LLC, is assisting authorities in their investigation into an alleged incident involving attendees and a celebrity guest at its convention in Cherry Hill, New Jersey last weekend. Immediately upon receiving a complaint from the attendee, the celebrity guest was removed from the convention and instructed not to return. Monster-Mania also encouraged the attendees to contact the police to file a report."

The investigation into the incident is ongoing, police said, and anyone with additional information is urged to contact the Cherry Hill Police Department at 856-432-8834.

Alec Baldwin says he still thinks about the 'Rust' shooting every day

Prosecutors awaiting the investigative report from the Santa Fe Sheriff's office will weigh evidence in the October 21, 2021 shooting on the film's Old West set outside Santa Fe, New Mexico to determine whether to pursue charges. Baldwin and crew members were rehearsing a scene in a rustic church when a prop gun in the actor's hand discharged, killing cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and wounding director Joel Souza.

Investigations into the tragedy have focused on how a live round of ammunition ended up on a movie set.

In his interview with CNN, Baldwin placed responsibility for the tragedy on Hannah Gutierrez Reed, who served as the armorer and props assistant on the film, and assistant director Dave Halls, who handed him the gun. Through their respective attorneys, both Gutierrez Reed and Halls accused Baldwin of deflecting blame onto others.

"Someone put a live bullet in the gun who should have known better," Baldwin said. "That was [Gutierrez Reed's] job. Her job was to look at the ammunition and put in the dummy round or the blank round, and there wasn't supposed to be any live rounds on the set.

"There are two people who didn't do what they were supposed to do," he added. "I'm not sitting there saying I want them to, you know, go to prison, or I want their lives to be hell. I don't want that, but I want everybody to know that those are the two people that are responsible for what happened."

According to an administrative complaint filed this month by the New Mexico environment department's occupational health and safety bureau against the production company, Gutierrez Reed told Halls to alert her when Baldwin arrived, so she could perform a safety check on his firearm. The complaint goes on to say that the armorer left the church "expecting Mr. Halls to notify her when Mr. Baldwin arrived." Instead, the complaint says, Halls handed the revolver directly to Baldwin.

"Why didn't [Gutierrez Reed] check that bullet? Why didn't Halls obey her?" Baldwin continued. "Why did he give me the gun? Why didn't he check? Why did he tell the crew [it was a cold gun]?"

Baldwin also wondered aloud whether Seth Kenney, the movie's props supplier, accidentally provided live bullets to the "Rust" set. An FBI report released last week said dozens of rounds that were consistent with live ammunition were found on the set.

In January, Gutierrez Reed sued the movie's gun and ammunition supplier, accusing PDQ Arm and Prop, LLC. and its founder Seth Kenney of violation of trade practices, false and deceptive product labels, and false and material misrepresentations. In the suit, Gutierrez Reed alleges Kenney sold her a cache of dummy ammunition with live rounds mixed in.

Kenney's attorneys filed an answer last month, denying any allegations and asking the court to dismiss the case.

"We agree with Mr. Baldwin and believe that Seth Kenney as primary ammunition supplier commingled live rounds with blank rounds in the ammunition provided to Rust," Jason Bowles, attorney for Gutierrez Reed said in a statement to CNN. "We have again asked that the Santa Fe County Sheriff's Office and FBI test the live rounds for fingerprints and DNA to confirm where the live rounds came from. To date they have not done so on this vital question, which must be answered to uncover the full truth of what happened."

The set of "Rust" at the Bonanza Creek Ranch in Santa Fe, N.M., in October.

CNN has reached out to the Santa Fe County Sheriff's Office for comment.

"We disagree with Mr. Baldwin's attempts to deflect blame onto others. It is not for him to decide or to apportion blame," Bowles added.

In a statement, Halls' attorney said Baldwin is trying to shift blame away from himself.

"Baldwin is pointing the finger at others because the evidence is pointing at him," said Lisa Torraco. "Halls is not responsible. Everyone needs to stop. People are only pointing the finger at Halls because they don't want the responsibility of being wrong. Halls is a scapegoat. People need to look at the evidence."

Baldwin has repeatedly said that he pulled back the gun's hammer as far as he could without cocking the gun and released the hammer -- but did not pull the trigger. A newly released FBI forensics report says the weapon could not be fired during FBI testing of its normal functioning without pulling the trigger while the gun was cocked. The report noted the gun eventually malfunctioned during FBI testing after internal parts fractured, which caused the gun to go off in the cocked position without pulling the trigger.

Luke Nikas, an attorney for the actor told CNN on Sunday the FBI report "is being misconstrued."

"When Alec Baldwin showed up that tragic day for filming, he had not a single reason in the world to think that there was a live bullet in that gun, in that church, or even on that property," Nikas told CNN in a subsequent interview on Thursday. "It would be a huge miscarriage of justice [to charge Baldwin]."

'I don't want to see anyone suffer'

Over the last 10 months, Baldwin says he has replayed the events that led up to the fatal shooting. While waiting for Santa Fe County prosecutors to announce the results of their investigation, Baldwin says he took matters into his own hands.

"I hired a private investigator," he said.

Based on what his private investigator has reported back to him, Baldwin said he does not believe he will be criminally charged.

The set of "Rust."

Baldwin said he believes that Gutierrez Reed and Halls wouldn't be criminally charged, either.

"I'm pretty confident neither one of them should ever work in a film set again," he said. "I sincerely believe ... [investigators are] going to say that this was an accident. It's tragic."

Baldwin added that he does not want to "condemn" Gutierrez Reed.

"I mean maybe it's the Catholic in me," Baldwin said. "I have an impulse to say, I don't want to see anybody suffer. I don't want to sit there and say you know, go get her and condemn her."

'That she died, that's the worst thing of all'

Filming on "Rust" shut down after the shooting. Baldwin says he went to great lengths to try to complete filming of the movie in an effort to provide potential proceeds to Hutchins' husband, Matthew Hutchins, and their son.
The cinematographer's widower is suing the film's production company, and Baldwin is named as one of the respondents.

"People talk about finishing the film to honor Halyna and I'm all for that, that's great. But more importantly, we wanted to put the money in the kid's pocket," Baldwin told CNN, referring to Hutchins' son.

Baldwin says he's lost five jobs since the "Rust" shooting and would have quit the film business if it wasn't for the support of his wife, Hilaria Baldwin, who is expecting their seventh child this fall.

"I got fired from another job yesterday," he said. "There I was all set to go to a movie, jump on a plane ... I've been talking with these guys for months and they told me yesterday we don't want to do the film with you because of this."

Baldwin also says he's feared for his safety since former President Donald Trump said publicly that he believed the actor killed Hutchins on purpose.

Baldwin says it's that type of stress that has "taken years off my life."

"There is just this torrent of people attacking me who don't know the facts," he said, crediting the support of his family with keeping him going.

"If I didn't have my wife, I don't know where I would be right now ... If I didn't have her, I probably would have quit, retired, gone off, you know sold everything I owned, got a house in the middle of nowhere and just you know did find something else to do, sell real estate."

If and when he does return to a movie or TV set, Baldwin says he won't work with real guns anymore. Filmmakers these days can employ digital effects to create realistic guns onscreen, he says.

Halyna Hutchins in 2019.

Baldwin also says there is not a day that goes by that he doesn't think about Hutchins and what happened that day.

"Everybody adored her as a person," Baldwin said, praising Hutchins' talent and character.

"That she died, that's the worst thing of all. Somebody died, and it was avoidable. It was so unnecessary," he said. "Every day of my life I think about that."

Correction: This story has been corrected to accurately reflect Seth Kenney's response to the allegations in the lawsuit brought by Hannah Gutierrez Reed.

CNN's Brandon Griggs, Julia Jones, Josh Campbell and Kevin Flower contributed to this report.
