Anthony Fauci, the top infectious disease expert who became the face of America's fight against Covid-19, has announced that he will leave government service after more than 50 years in December. He said in a statement on Monday that he would be leaving both his position as director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) and that of chief medical advisor to President Joe Biden. Fauci, who has served under seven presidents beginning with Ronald Reagan, said "I am not retiring."  Instead the 81-year-old, who had said he would leave by the end of Biden's current term, said he now intended to "pursue the next chapter of my career." Biden extended his "deepest thanks" to Fauci in a White House statement, adding that the country "is stronger, more resilient and healthier because of him." Fauci said it had been the "honour of a lifetime" to lead the NIAID, which he has done since 1984. He did not spell out what he will do next, but said he wants to inspire and mentor the next generation, citing the "energy and passion" he still has for the field despite his decades of service. "I am proud to have been part of this important work," he said. However, his clashes with former President Donald Trump over the virus response drew anger from the right and he now lives with security protection following death threats against his family. Fauci has helmed the United States' response to infectious disease outbreaks since the 1980s, from HIV/AIDS to Covid-19. Fauci's accomplishments also include implementing a fast-track system that widened access to antiretroviral medicines, and working with former President George H.W. Bush to plow in more resources. Later, under President George W. Bush, Fauci was the architect of the President's Emergency Plan For AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), credited with saving millions of lives in sub-Saharan Africa. As a scientist, he is credited with developing effective treatments for formerly fatal inflammatory diseases, as well as for contributions into understanding how HIV destroys the body's defences. Despite his many duties, he had continued to treat patients at the NIH's Clinical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. It was not clear if that was part of his plans going forward. Britney Spears' lawyer in response to Kevin Federline: 'We will not tolerate bullying'

On Wednesday, Federline posted to Instagram multiple videos that he said were filmed by Spears' sons several years ago in which she appears to have verbal disagreements and uses harsh language with her two children. The videos have since been removed from the social media platform, but they were published by TMZ. In a statement to CNN, Spears' attorney said they are "working with Instagram to ensure that Mr. Federline adheres to its rules, and we are exploring all appropriate relief against him."

"Whether he realizes it or not, Mr. Federline has not only violated the privacy and dignity of the mother of his children, he has undermined his own children, whose privacy he should protect," Mathew Rosengart, Spears' attorney said. "Mr. Federline's ill-advised decision to post an old video of his 11 and 12-year-old children was cruel, bottom of the barrel stuff."

Federline had said in his post that his family chose to share the videos to illustrate why they have more recently distanced themselves from Spears. CNN has reached out to an attorney for Federline for comment.

"It has been my honor to work with Britney, to suspend her father as conservator, to help her gain her freedom and dignity, and to help protect her from the type of bullying she endured in the past - and we will not tolerate bullying in any area," Rosengart said.

Evacuation of Israeli military bases on the Gaza border for fear of resistance response + video

According to IRNA's report on Wednesday, Sheikh Bassam Al-Saadi is one of the prominent leaders of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad resistance movement, who was arrested on Monday night in the attack of the Zionist army on the Jenin camp in the West Bank of the Jordan River. A Palestinian citizen was also martyred in this attack.

It was following this attack that the Quds groups declared alertness among their forces throughout Palestine and called their forces and Mujahidin.

In their statement, these groups warned the Zionist regime that Sheikh Bassam al-Saadi's life was in danger.

These groups also threatened the Zionist regime, if it does not stop its aggression, it is ready for any powerful response.

It was following this threat by Quds forces that the Zionist newspaper "Yediot Aharanut" reported yesterday that the Zionist regime blocked the roads and axes near the borders of the Gaza Strip, fearing a reaction to the arrest of Sheikh "Bassam Al-Saadi".

The media of the Zionist regime also said yesterday that the security and military institutions of this regime are worried about attacking the Zionist targets near the Gaza Strip with the use of "Cornet" missiles.
