Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy will spend a busy day in the national capital on Monday meeting President Draupadi Murmu, Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankar and Prime Minister Narendra Modi among others. The first and significant item on his itinerary is a meeting with the Prime Minister where he will discuss all state-related issues. Speculation is once again rife that the issue of the YSR Congress joining the NDA government at the Centre could be on their meeting agenda, though the party leaders have also been maintaining a silence on this. The YSRC has been maintaining a “very friendly” relationship with the BJP at the Centre since the former came to power in May 2019. Now that the NDA is said to be looking for new alliance partners following the exit of the Nitish Kumar-led JD(U), it is speculated that the YSRC may be offered berths in the Union Cabinet. This may suit YSRC’s game plan of ensuring that the BJP does not re-align with the Telugu Desam Party. If that happens, the political equations in AP will change in the run-up to the 2024 elections. Two women fight over seat in Delhi Metro

You must have witnessed many fights over a bus seat but recently a video of two women fighting over a seat in Delhi Metro is going viral on social media.

In the viral clip, a woman in a yellow saree is seen seated comfortably with her bag on an empty seat while a woman in orange kurta struggles to find a seat for herself in Delhi Metro. The argument begins when the woman, wearing saree, says she won’t offer the empty seat and the other woman goes on to sit in the small gap between her and another passenger.

The woman in the yellow saree said that she had reserved the empty seat for someone she’s waiting for but the other woman says she can’t reserve a seat like this. The kurta-clan woman forcibly sits at the empty gap squeezing the other woman.

The first woman then says that she can’t make her sit on her lap, to which the kurta woman responds saying she’s not asking to sit in her lap.

The video shared by a Twitter user has gone viral with more than 168k views and 5,100 likes so far

Mamata on 4-Day Delhi Visit Amid Oppn Unity in Question

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will be arriving in Delhi on Thursday for a four-day trip, with Niti Aayog meeting chaired by PM Modi and a meet with President Droupadi Murmu among agendas in her to-do list.

Mamata Banerjee, whose Delhi visits generally are for Opposition unity show, is making a visit to the national capital at a time when Opposition unity is in question.

The Mamata Banerjee-led TMC has taken stand to abstain from Vice President election, a decision said to be taken by the party over the way opposition candidate was chosen. This has raised questions over Opposition fabric.

Mamata Banerjee’s Delhi trip comes over a month after she was in the national capital for the Opposition meeting initiated by her to pick a joint candidate for the presidential election.

Mamata Banerjee will participate in Niti Aayog meeting called by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 7. Sources inside the party said, “Didi fighting for her State demand, it’s important to represent state in such meeting that’s why we think she is coming.

Along with Niti Aayog meeting, Mamata Banerjee plans to meet President Droupadi Murmu days after the presidential poll in which TMC was supporting Opposition candidate Yashwant Sinha.

Don’t delay graft complaints against govt. officials: Delhi L-G

Graft complaints against government officials must be investigated without delay, Lieutenant-Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena said here on Tuesday while expressing displeasure over the time being taken to process such cases.

The L-G has taken a serious view of procedural lapses and delays by investigating agencies like the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) and the Directorate of Vigilance (DoV) in the course of investigation into complaints and cases of corruption against government officials, Raj Niwas said in a statement.

Calls for explanation

“He has called for an explanation by ACB officers concerned for all matters pending for more than one year and asked the department to furnish a list of all such cases citing reasons for pendency to his Secretariat,” it stated.

Mr. Saxena issued strict instructions to the DoV and all departments to “carefully consider” all cases and complaints referred to them for comments and examination and ensure that these are provided within a fixed timeframe “after judicious application of mind.”

While there were many cases of investigation pending since 2012-2017, the administrative departments were found to not have furnished their comments. In others, the DoV had submitted “self-contradictory recommendations” for grant of sanction.

“Advising the DoV to ensure that requests from the ACB are submitted for his consideration only after due diligence by the administrative departments against whose official the complaint has been made, the L-G has instructed that comments of the administrative department be put on record without fail,” Raj Niwas stated.

“It should be ensured that the recommendations made by the various agencies are to the farthest possible extent, not in variance of each other and are not self-contradictory which will ensure speedy disposal of cases on one hand and also ensure justice to the complainant as well as respondent,” it added.
