13 people dead due to the turn of the boat in sindh still now

Deputy commissioner says death tolls rise to 13.Total of seven people, including children, drowned.
Search for more people is underway.

The death toll from a boat that capsized while carrying flood affectees near Sindh’s Bilawalpur earlier today is presumed to have surpassed 10 after officials said on Monday a search for more people is underway.

The deputy commissioner said that the death tolls rose to 13; while eight people have been rescued. Rescue sources said that nearly 25 flood victims were being taken to the relief camps when the incident took place.

A total of seven people, including children, drowned as the boat capsized, their bodies have been rescued and recovered.

A huge relief operation is underway in Pakistan as the country struggles to deal with monsoon flooding that has affected more than 33 million people.

Officials said 1,136 people have died since June when the seasonal rains began, but the final toll could be higher as hundreds of villages in the mountainous north have been cut off by flood-swollen rivers washing away roads and bridges.

Officials said this year's flooding has affected more than 33 million people — one in seven Pakistanis — destroying or badly damaging nearly a million homes.

The need for knowledge-based people to enter the tannery/export industry is that a leather jacket is worth 4 times more than a barrel of crude oil.

According to the reporter Science and Education Department of IRNAalong with the formation of knowledge-based companies in scientific and academic centers, some other companies under the title Creative companies They have been formed with the aim of providing new business models in the field of innovation ecosystem, and the growth and development of products and services of these companies, unlike knowledge-based companies, does not require complex and advanced technology.

In fact, creative companies are companies whose main purpose is based on creativity and innovation and completion of the chain from idea to product, and their scope of activity is in the field of cultural creative industries, handicrafts, and tourism.

Weakness in conversion industries and neglect of technology is the most important problem of leather industry

The leather industry is considered as one of the most important and profitable industries in the world, and yet, unfortunately, our country is currently one of the largest raw material sales countries, even though it has a long history in the tanning industry. Light leather known in the world. An industry that can definitely attract more attention and investment in converting industries to earn good currency for our country. A very important issue that Hossein Kazemi One of the entrepreneurs and the CEO of the creative company Cherem Partoafken also emphasizes it a lot in a conversation with IRNA.

Emphasizing that the leather industry is considered to be a very job-creating and currency-generating industry in the world, this activist in the field of creative industries has pledged to prevent the sale of high-quality Iranian leather or salambor, which has become a common practice in the past due to the negligence of the authorities, as much as possible. Technologists and knowledge-based experts in this area.

He stated that Italy is currently known as one of the leading countries in the leather industry, adding that Turkey also ranks second. Unfortunately, even though Iran is one of the three countries that produce leather and export semi-finished products, Iran's leather is the third in terms of quantity and quality, but about 80% of Iran's leather exports are raw and in the form of salambour.

The need for knowledge-based people to enter the tannery/export industry is that a leather jacket is worth 4 times more than a barrel of crude oil.

Kazemi says: Our country's economy, like the export of crude oil, suffers from the lack of necessary infrastructure for the processing and production of leather products. This is while some countries, including Turkey, seriously prevent the export of raw leather and salambor, because they bring huge incomes to their country by creating added value and currency exchange, while providing a good job creation environment. .

He continued: Due to Iran being located in a hot and dry region, we have the best cow and sheep leather, but due to the weakness of the leather processing industries, this valuable product is available in raw form to the processing industries of other countries, including Italy and Turkey, and this The field itself has created employment for the workers of these countries and earned currency for them.

Free training and entrepreneurship for imprisoned women and clients of the Imam Khomeini Relief Committee (RA)

This activist in the field of creative industries, who has been working in the production of hand-embroidered natural leather products for about a decade in Golestan province, has recently succeeded in exporting his products to countries such as Sweden, Switzerland, Canada, Turkey and Azerbaijan, and this August participate in an exhibition in Russia and has succeeded in negotiating with Russian businessmen to export their leather products to this country.

He says: Currently, 160 housewives are working with this creative company to produce hand-stitched leather products, including men's and women's bags, belts, bracelets and sheaths, and recently to produce some clothes.

The need for knowledge-based people to enter the tannery/export industry is that a leather jacket is worth 4 times more than a barrel of crude oil.

Women, some of whom are members of the relief committee and some of whom are even in prison, according to this active entrepreneur, after training and learning sewing, they are paid according to their work. That is, they can earn about 300 to 400 thousand tomans a day by only having a needle and the tools provided to them.

This creative industries entrepreneur stated that he has succeeded in setting up three workshops for the production of handmade natural leather products and added: I am currently trying to set up a fourth workshop.

Kazemi stated: "If the relevant institutions provide us with support and land, we can set up a handmade shoe workshop with the employment of at least 500 people and the daily production of at least 300 handmade shoes and even export."

The export of a leather jacket is four times more valuable than a barrel of crude oil

This activist in the field of creative industries also said: Our manufactured products are the same price as Chinese synthetic products, while the quality of our work is at least three times higher and we have to sell our natural leather products at a price that consumers are willing to buy. Do not have an artificial type.

Kazemi stated that the products of this company active in the field of creative industries are produced according to the standards and the global market, and added: The models that are produced are suitable for the global market and this has made us successful in the field of export.

Kazemi added: The reason why our quality products are cheap compared to imported artificial products is that we currently only calculate the costs of cutting, sewing, fittings and leather in the sale of our products, and our profit is only in cutting, sewing and sewing.

Regarding his expectations from government agencies, he emphasized that he has no requests for loans and facilities, and stated: My job is sewing and one of our requests is insurance for the people who work in these workshops. . In this way, there is an encouragement for them to continue working.

This entrepreneur said: Our other expectation from the authorities is that they will help us in the field of selling and exporting manufactured products to other countries, because our products are of good quality and have a competitive price, and the export markets will certainly welcome them. will do Of course, there is another problem; Unfortunately, the customs of the country sometimes create obstacles by increasing the costs, and with these customs costs and of course taxes, which will lead to an increase in the final price of the manufactured products, we cannot have good exports.

He added: This is in the situation that we do not import, but produce, and by creating employment for 160 people, we should be exempted from paying taxes.

Kazemi further mentioned one of his plans, in case of necessary support from the government, to produce leather jackets and export them and said: The export of a leather jacket will earn at least four times of a barrel of oil for the country.

According to this activist in the field of leather products Even if the country's oil exports are prevented, with the introduction of modern technologies in this area and the removal of export and tax barriers, we can witness a good foreign exchange for the country.

Around 26M people in US lack health insurance

Percentage of Americans without health coverage hits a new low of eight percent, says health department, based on recent household survey.

The proportion of the population with no health insurance in the United States has reached a new low in early 2022 at eight percent, President Joe Biden's administration has said.

The Department of Health said on Tuesday that based on a household survey it carried out, 5.2 million people have gained medical insurance since early 2021, when Biden came to office, a figure that includes a million children.

However, around 26 million people remain without health coverage in the country.

"No one should worry about whether they can pay for their doctor or choose between paying rent and filing a prescription," Biden said in a statement.

"Today, we are closer than ever to making that principle a reality," he added.

The drop in uninsured Americans began last year when Congress and Biden signed off on a $1.9 trillion coronavirus relief bill that lowered premiums and out-of-pocket costs for new or returning customers purchasing plans through the Affordable Care Act's private health insurance markets.

The Affordable Care Act, known as "Obamacare," came into effect in 2014 and was the flagship law of former President Barack Obama, with whom Biden served as Vice President.

Between 2018 and 2019, however, the number of uninsured rebounded before falling again.

Inflation Reduction Act

The president attributed the rise in the number of medically insured Americans to improvements contained in the American Rescue Plan, the emergency aid plan adopted at the start of his term that contained measures facilitating access to health insurance through grants to help families pay for medical coverage.

"Pretty cool, huh, @BarackObama?" Biden said on Twitter.

"You bet, Joe," the former president responded.

The two men called on Congress to pass the Inflation Reduction Act, a law largely focused on clean energy and climate but also containing measures to secure subsidies for medical coverage and reduce drug prices.

5 people stabbed while tubing in 'chaotic' scene

A teenager was killed and four people were critically wounded after they were stabbed while tubing on a busy Wisconsin river on Saturday, authorities said.

St. Croix County Sheriff Scott Knudson described the scene as "chaotic" and "scary."

"I'm sure that anybody that witnessed it will never forget it," he told reporters during a press briefing Saturday. "It is a tragedy."

Five people were stabbed with a knife while tubing on the Apple River in Somerset Saturday afternoon, the sheriff said.

A 17-year-old boy from Minnesota was transported to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Knudson said.

The four other victims were all believed to have critical injuries, he said. Two victims were transported out of the hard-to-reach area by helicopter and several ambulances responded.

The surviving victims included one woman and three men, all in their early 20s, the sheriff said.

A suspect had fled the scene but was taken into custody without incident, the sheriff's office said.

The sheriff said he was a 52-year-old man from Minnesota. A bystander took a photo of him, which helped authorities in locating him, he said.

Authorities were searching the area for the knife used in the attack and were interviewing a "number of witnesses", Knudson said.

"We're actually in the process of trying to divert some of the tubing traffic around our crime scene," he said. "That alone is causing some challenges trying to get them off the river, and gathering up what we can in a hard-to-get-to area.

It is unclear what led up to the attack, Knudson said.

There is no further threat to the public, the sheriff's office said.

Somerset is located near the Wisconsin-Minnesota border, about 35 miles east of Minneapolis.

The Apple River is a popular destination for tubing and camping.

This is a developing story. Please check back for updates.

Indiana senate approves bill to help women, children, people who adopt

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Indiana senators on Friday approved a measure to direct funding toward programs that help pregnant women, children and people who adopt during a divided special session where lawmakers have been wrangling over a proposal to ban nearly all abortions in the state.

The spending bill from Senate Republicans, which passed 46–1, allocates $45 million more in the coming year toward state agencies that "support the health of pregnant women, postpartum mothers, and infants," especially among low-income families. The wraparound services would be available for families with children under 4 years old and comes with an estimated $5 million expansion in adoption tax credits.

Alone in his dissent was Senate Democratic Leader Greg Taylor, who said that while he thinks it is important to send assistance to families in need, disbursing the funds through the state’s budget agency is "not fiscally responsible."

"Sending $45 million to the budget agency does not get the money to the people," he said before voting. "It puts it in a fund that allows the budget agency to determine who gets it and where it goes."

The House on Friday also approved a similar bill that comprises millions in tax credits for families adopting, repeals the state tax on children’s diapers and expands eligibility for direct payments through the state’s automatic taxpayer refund law.

INDIANA WOMAN ADMITS LEAVING BABY TO DIE AFTER GIVING BIRTH ON CRUISE SHIP IN CARIBBEAN

Approved by House legislators 93-2, the bill will distribute $225 to taxpayers, and Indiana residents who were not required to file a tax return can sign an affidavit to claim a tax rebate. It’s an echo of Republican Gov. Eric Holcomb’s first call for a special session on inflation relief in June.

Senate Republicans have so far been opposed to issuing direct payments in their legislation. The Senate is also considering an inflation relief bill without a tax rebate, and a Democratic amendment that would have included one was shot down Friday.

"We think the programs that we’re supporting are the right programs to support," House Speaker Todd Huston told reporters. "People need the dollars right now."

The final Senate vote happened about 10 hours after the Republican-dominated chamber declined to remove exceptions for rape and incest victims in the proposed abortion ban. Indiana is among GOP-controlled states moving quickly to further restrict or ban abortion after the U.S. Supreme Court overturned the landmark Roe v. Wade decision.

The Indiana senate passed a bill that will help women, children, and people who adopt in the state, the vote was 46-1.

The Indiana senate passed a bill that will help women, children, and people who adopt in the state, the vote was 46-1.

Lawmakers wrapped past midnight due to an approximately five-hour delay in Thursday’s session, and Senate restrictions prohibited lawmakers from voting on the ban Friday. The Senate vote is now expected Saturday, and the House could take up the proposal next week.

As for the spending proposal, Republicans have said it shows dedication to mothers and babies, while Democrats say the money isn't enough for services that will be in greater demand if the abortion ban passes. House Democrats emphasized a similar note of dissatisfaction in their own social services bill.

INDIANA AG RELEASES 'PARENTS BILL OF RIGHTS' TO COUNTER INFLUENCES LIKE CRITICAL RACE THEORY

Republican Sen. Travis Holdman called the bill "a start" and addressed Democrats' calls for mental health funding in the bill.

"We have a whole new budget session coming up here in January, and hopefully we can supplement some of the funds and respond in kind as we should to the mental health situation and the needs of young mothers, pregnant women and young children," Holdman said.

Twice in recent years, GOP legislators turned aside Republican Gov. Eric Holcomb’s call for a law requiring businesses to provide workplace accommodations for pregnant women.

Supporters for previous bills — such as provisions to grant pregnant workers longer breaks or transfers to less physical work — said they would improve Indiana’s infant mortality rate. Federal statistics show the state had the country’s ninth worst in 2020, with 527 infant deaths.

An amendment to the wraparound services bill approved Thursday requires state offices to research neighboring states' Medicaid reimbursement rates for pregnancy-related services, with a report required by Dec. 31, 2022.

MORE THAN 2 DOZEN STATES TO RESTRICT ABORTIONS AFTER ROE V WADE OVERTURNED IN DOBBS DECISION

Legislative leaders have acknowledged the abortion ban could increase the state’s Medicaid and other expenses. A ban on most of the approximately 8,400 abortions performed in Indiana in 2021 would add an unknown number to the state’s live births, about 80,000 of which occurred last year, according to the state Health Department.

ISLAMABAD: If the PTI wants to apply political tactics and make people change party positions, then the coalition government also knows how to engage in that kind of politics, said  PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz during a press conference on Thursday.

Her comments came following a meeting of the Pakistan Democratic Movement's (PDM) chiefs to chalk out a future strategy after the coalition parties suffered a major setback in Punjab.

On Tuesday, the Supreme Court of Pakistan instated PTI Chairman Imran Khan-backed Pervez Elahi as Punjab's chief minister and removed PML-N leader Hamza Shahbaz from office, whose party is the major stakeholder in the coalition.

Berating the judiciary, the PML-N leader said that the verdict was not in the favour of forming a full court because it was an "injustice and a one-sided decision".

"There is unequal justice for Imran Khan and for Nawaz Sharif. If the deputy speaker belongs to PML-N, the court will summon him and will term his ruling as unconstitutional, but the court will not summon him if he belongs to the PTI," said Maryam, adding that the government will not bow to the court's verdict.

The court handed over 25 of our members, including PML-Q's 10 members, to Imran Khan, said Maryam. "This verdict ended the justice system."

Demanding the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) announce the verdict on PTI's foreign funding case, Maryam said that the commission should break its silence or the coalition parties will stage a sit-in outside ECP's office.

"We want the ECP to issue a verdict in the foreign funding case as soon as possible. It has been proved that Imran Khan has taken funding from Indians and Israelis," added the PML-N vice president.

Maryam added that the PTI chief himself elected the chief election commissioner. "Khan used to praise the ECP but now is blaming the commission in a bid to pressurise it."

'PDM meeting to continue a few more days'

On the other hand, PDM chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman also stressed that the verdict on the foreign funding case, which has been delayed for the last eight years, should be announced soon. "It has been proved that the PTI concealed the details of their accounts from the ECP," he added.

Talking about the PDM meeting, Fazl said that it is going to continue for a few more days and a joint strategy will be decided by taking the opinions of all political parties involved.

The JUI-F chief said that it was a challenge for the coalition government to save the reputation of the country. He also criticised the Supreme Court's decision of electing Elahi as the chief minister and said that it has created a crisis in the country which is culminating in economic turmoil.

Pope apologises for 'evil' against Canada's Indigenous people

"I humbly beg forgiveness for the evil committed by so many Christians against the indigenous peoples," Pope Francis told indigenous leaders from the First Nations, Metis and Inuit people.

Pope Francis has apologised to Canada's native people on their homeland for the Church's role in schools where indigenous children were abused, branding forced cultural assimilation "evil" and a "disastrous error".

Speaking near the site of a former school on Monday, Francis apologised for Christian support of the "colonising mentality" of the times.

He called for a "serious investigation" of the so-called residential schools and more assistance to help survivors and descendants heal.

"With shame and unambiguously, I humbly beg forgiveness for the evil committed by so many Christians against the indigenous peoples," Francis told indigenous leaders from the First Nations, Metis and Inuit people.

The 85-year-old pope is making the week-long apology tour of Canada to fulfil a promise he made to indigenous delegations that visited him this year at the Vatican, where he made the initial apology.

'Cultural destruction and forced assimilation'

Between 1881 and 1996 more than 150,000 indigenous children were separated from their families and brought to residential schools.

Many children were starved, beaten and sexually abused in a system that Canada's Truth and Reconciliation Commission called "cultural genocide."

Holding up on his promise, Francis asked for forgiveness, "especially for the ways in which many members of the Church and of religious communities cooperated, not least through their indifference, in projects of cultural destruction and forced assimilation promoted by the governments of that time, which culminated in the system of residential schools."

Police report shootings of homeless people near Vancouver

VANCOUVER, British Columbia -- Canadian police reported multiple shootings of homeless people Monday in a Vancouver suburb and said a suspect was in custody.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police said most of the shootings were in downtown Langley. One reported shooting was in neighboring Langley Township.

Police Sgt. Rebecca Parslow said she had no immediate details on the victims' conditions.

Mounties issued a cellphone alert about 6:30 a.m., telling people to avoid the area.

Police closed off a main route through the center of the city. Authorities later issued a cellphone alert saying the suspect was in custody.

Authorities initially said they were unsure if the shooter acted alone. But police later said the man in custody is believed to be solely responsible.

A homicide team confirmed on social media that its investigators deployed to Langley to help the mounted police.

Yellow police tape surrounded a sandwich shop and a parking lot in Langley at the scene of one of the shootings. A black tent was set up over one of the crime scenes.

Langley is about 30 miles (48 kilometers) southeast of Vancouver.

Mass shootings are less common in Canada than in the United States. The deadliest gun rampage in Canadian history happened in 2020 when a man disguised as a police officer shot people in their homes and set fires across the province of Nova Scotia, killing 22 people.

The country overhauled its gun-control laws after an attacker named Marc Lepine killed 14 women and himself in 1989 at Montreal’s Ecole Polytechnique college.

It is now illegal to possess an unregistered handgun or any kind of rapid-fire weapon in Canada. To purchase a weapon, the country also requires training, a personal risk assessment, two references, spousal notification and criminal record checks.
